Mosaico – Azioni per i Rifugiati is working alongside institutions for the weakest segment of the population in Turin to help address the Covid-19 emergency.
Since the beginning of the health emergency, Mosaico’s operators, as part of the “OASI – On the Street” project, an initiative funded by the Compagnia di San Paolo, have been monitoring the city’s streets and neuralgic places, also trying to understand the situation and needs of both people residing in occupied buildings and those forced to spend the night in dormitories only to find themselves instrada again the next morning. With the restrictions in the decrees, canteens, neighborhood houses, libraries and all daytime gathering spaces are closed, as a result so many remain on the streets all day without the possibility of protecting themselves from possible contagion. But the Turin area is strengthening its network. The Mosaico association was invited to the table convened by the Turin City Council’s Department of Rights and Equal Opportunities, together with the heads of the Office for Foreigners and Social Services, and here it presented its proposals: to bring food and hygiene kits to the city’s informal settlements and to intervene, where necessary, with health care through the doctors of the GrIs (Immigration and Health Groups) network.

Mosaico, in these times are difficult for everyone, but for some even more so, continues its action to support those who find themselves in a condition of strong vulnerability, with special attention paid to refugees and asylum seekers: in addition to continuing to inform and assist online, the association strives to offer concrete aid to those excluded from other assistance initiatives. Since the beginning of the emergency, food and basic necessities have been delivered to more than a hundred people, also collaborating with other entities in the area.
Mosaico’s decades of experience in listening to and supporting refugee and asylum-seeking people, its rootedness in the territory, and its conscious and responsible choice to network with institutions and other organizations makes it a valuable resource for the city of Turin and its inhabitants. Everyone. Because no one should be excluded.
